The name
Named for the Commodore. So was the town.
Oliver Perry's takes its name from Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry, the naval officer who won the Battle of Lake Erie in the War of 1812. The town, first called Wattsville, took his name in 1824.
“We have met the enemy and they are ours.”
